Welcome to the Sol sector. This document provides the essential information required to begin your posting. Your supervisor will provide department-specific orientation on arrival.

Your Employer

You are employed by Central Command, which operates several Space Stations under exclusive contract to NanoTrasen Corporation.

NanoTrasen owns the station and retains its scientific output, commercial revenue, and intellectual property. Central Command administers staffing, daily operations, security, and your contract. Your salary, chain of command, and performance reviews are matters for Central Command. Direct communication with NanoTrasen Corporate is neither necessary nor authorised.

Both organisations operate within the legal framework of the Trans-Solar Federation, the supranational government to which all member-species citizens are subject.

Station Function

These Space Stations are, first and foremost, a research facility. Its position within the Sol sector adjacent to the Null Scar, an observable weakening of the boundary between conventional space and the underlying Nullspace substrate, places it within close range of scientific phenomena unavailable elsewhere in Federation space.

Anomalous matter, xenoarchaeological sites, biological samples from the region's unusual ecosystems, and the properties of Plasma itself are all part of our primary research initiatives.

The Research Director's department coordinates these efforts. All other station operations exist, in some capacity, to support that work.

Secondary functions include mining of the region's substantial Plasma and ore deposits, the data from which also returns to NanoTrasen.

A Brief History

NanoTrasen was founded in the late 21st century in the aftermath of the global conflicts that preceded the formation of the Trans-Solar Federation. The company's early development of plasma-based power generation established it as the Federation's foremost commercial and industrial partner.

Central Command was founded in the late 25th century as Stellar Vanguard Solutions, a private military contractor staffed by former NanoTrasen security veterans. In 2475, SVS entered into a long-term operational contract with NanoTrasen, assuming responsibility for the staffing and operation of NanoTrasen's stations. The company rebranded as Central Command shortly thereafter.

The Sol sector is among the most scientifically significant regions in explored space. You will encounter materials, technologies, and phenomena unfamiliar to you. Follow your training, report anomalies through standard incident channels, and consult your supervisor with any questions.
